Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Celebrating the equality, diversity and inclusion of our community.
Petroc celebrates and values equality of opportunity, the diversity of our learning community and the inclusion of all our learners.
We welcome students of all different genders, ethnicities, abilities, sexual orientations, faiths, ages and backgrounds, equally. We seek to create a community that is as diverse, vibrant and accessible as possible, where individual choices are respected, ensuring all learners feel safe and able to participate fully in college life.
The college is committed to ensuring that our students - as well as our staff and stakeholders - can study and work in environments free from discrimination, harassment or victimisation; in which each individual is treated with respect and dignity, and is able to fulfil their potential.
Our Campuses are accessible for wheelchair users with ramps and lifts situated throughout the college. We have assistive technology across all curriculum areas such as fixed and portable loop systems, and can supply written materials in different formats.
We have a dedicated committee of staff and students working on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across the college. If you would like to speak to someone at the college about EDI you can get in touch with us by emailing sarah.samuels@petroc.ac.uk.

Diversity:Â Acknowledging the differences between people and groups of people within our community, and placing a positive value on those differences.
Inclusion:Â Embracing all people irrespective of race, gender, disability, medical or other need. Providing equal access and opportunities by removing barriers to enable everyone to be themselves and reach their full potential.Â
All of our learners are expected to uphold our Community Code of Conduct as exemplified in the Learner Behaviour Policy (Community Code) which has the underlying principles of Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe.
We want all learners who come to Petroc to have a great experience. If you witness or experience any inappropriate behaviours, including victimisation, harassment, discrimination or other forms of intolerance, you can seek help and support from our Safeguarding Team in confidence.Â
